Ingredients:
500 g mutton, cut into 1 – 1½ inch pieces
¼ kg potatoes, quartered
½ cup channa daal (lentils)
1 tsp each ginger and garlic paste
1 tsp green chili paste
½ kg tomatoes, skinned and chopped
2 tbsp poppy seeds, finely ground
25 g coconut powder
1 medium onion
whole garam masala (consisting of 6 cloves, 6 pepper corns, 3 inch stick of cinnamon)

Method:
* Boil mutton with ginger, garlic, green chili paste and salt till almost done, add water or stock for curry. Boil daal till almost cooked, strain and add to mutton.
* Fry sliced or ground onion in oil till pink, add whole garam masala, mutton, daal, potatoes and poppy seeds. Fry a little, add tomatoes. Continue frying and add coconut powder made with stock according to directions on the packet. Boil for a few minutes.
* Turn off the heat.
* Serve with tandorri roti.
